If just 1% more of the registered electorate had turned out for the Conservatives in the 2024 General Election, we would have formed the largest party in a hung Parliament.
If 2% more had supported us, we would have won a majority.Instead, we suffered our worst swing to Labour in modern history.
What went wrong? We spoke to 62 defeated MPs and candidates to find out their experience of the 2024 campaign. Their feedback forms the basis of this report.
The good news is that Starmer's majority is big but fragile.
The bad news is there are several areas where the Conservative machinery effectively collapsed.
